The Canal House

The Canal House

On a recent visit to Birmingham I decided to visit The Canal House for a meal out. The restaurant/pub is located on the canal near to Broad Street and Brindley place.

We chose to enjoy the nice weather and sat on the balcony with dog in tow for a drink and a meal, the balcony has excellent views of the canal.

The Canal House

The Canal House has some interesting d├ęcor inside including a piano and some extravigent glass chandiliers. Their theme is old meets new and they deliver it well, somewhere I would return again.

The Bar

The bar had a good choice of beers, wines spirits and cocktails available. We opted for as few pints of IPA and lager to enjoy in the sun.

The menu was delicious and took a while to choose what to eat here, one regret was not trying their Deli Boards.

For starters the whitebait was delicious and perfectly cooked, pork crackling with apple ketchup tasted delicious, would be a great bar snack too. As usual we had olives, these were delicious big juicy and green, I changed my opinion on green olives on this visit.

For main course hanging kebabs were the theme for the evening despite reservations after seeing Gordon Ramsay slate the idea on Kitchen Nightmares.

Anyway sod Gordon these were delicious, well cooked with nice sauces. I personally prefered the Salt and pepper Pork but the lamb kofta one was good too.

A very nice venue for eating in or outside with great views of the canal and easy to find, they served good food and drink and prices were quite reasonable. More about them on their website;
