As I am staying in Brasov, Transylvania with the dog this time I am discovering many dog-friendly bars and restaurants. This guide will be like my other dog-friendly pages and constantly evolve as more eateries and drinking establishments are discovered. I hope to include many of Brasov’s bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants here and welcome any suggestions for us to try.
My dog is at the larger end of the small dogs scale so this guide includes discoveries that he was allowed into while we ate or had a drink.
Brasov city seems from the outset to be accommodating to canine friends and there are plenty of dog owners walking their dogs. During the summer when we travelled without out fury friend many were seen accompanying their owner in the outdoor seating areas most establishments have. During the winter the seats disappear as does the nice weather so indoor opportunities were required for me to have company while having a bite to eat or a social drink.
There are loads of places for dog walking some of my favourites include the city walls and Mount Tampa. I am yet to discover if he can take the cable car yet or the ones at Poiana Brasov.
Dog Friendly Bars & Restaurants
The following places are ones we have visited with dog in tow in the city and surrounding area.
A bar located not far from the central square in a nice side street, this bar is nice IMO and has some comfy seats. They serve a variety of different foods and drinks and seems to be a more trendy place to go. I have visited a few times, once for drinks outside in the summer, once to use their free Internet and have a few beers and finally for a social night with the puppy. The dog was made very welcome including having a bowl of Opus9’s finest dog water brought to the table without asking. He also got loads of attention from the staff passing and other customers. I stumbled upon Pickles on Strada Postăvarului while planning a days walking in the mountains and spotted their board outside showing some fantastic looking burgers. Temptation got the better of me and popped inside this very well presented and modern eatery. The door on the way in highlighted that they are pet friendly and have free Wi-Fi for patrons so felt my temptation was vindicated. While ordering lunch I confirmed that the puppy was allowed in with the friendly waiter, all good and earmarked for a return. The venue was quite quiet and received good service and a delicious burger. I tried the Burger HOOK UP which they describe as; Greased butter with scented butter, beef, bacon, crispy chicken with mustard and mayonnaise sauce, cedar cheese, Coleslaw salad. I enjoyed this with the parmesan and parsley chips and a large glass of Stella. Overall I enjoyed this restaurant and next visit I intend to try some of their more local food offerings. Bistro Del I’Arte
A city centre bistro that serves good food and is quite popular, the dog was allowed in without and issue but was too crowded for the relaxing night I had planned so moved on elsewhere. It seemed nice and planning returning on a weekday. About Bistro Del I’Arte…
This is a German style restaurant in the Old Town area with indoor seating in the winter. I enjoyed Nuremberger sausages with Sauerkraut on my visit which nearly tasted as good as those I enjoyed at Nuremberg Christmas Market.. The waiter informed us dogs were allowed in with us in this bar but ordering food is mandatory so opted for a light snack. The dog was welcomed and petted by staff and customer alike. A pizza restaurant located on Piața Sfatului, the main square of the town. They have outdoor seating in the summer and nice indoor seating in the winter. The puppy was welcomed when we visited this week for one of their pizzas. The food was nice, beer was cold and service was good. About Come Back..
Suggestions that we have not yet tried, mainly from review sites and form comments.
Trattorian Artisan Food
Located in Piața George Enescu, Trattorian Artisan Food is a restaurant I enjoyed eating at in the past without the dog. I enjoyed a burger as was craving some beef along with a traditional aubergine salad. I have not yet visited with puppy yet but they have reviews on multiple sites saying they are doggy friendly.
